It's getting serious, we're getting started. You should definitely be there, because after a short welcome, you will be given an introduction to the most important things you need to know about studying and especially the first semester. As a thank you for your exemplary attendance, you will receive a first semester bag with lots of cool goodies.

Lots of ESE tutors will help you get started in the big university world. After the welcome, we will divide you into smaller groups. You will then go to other rooms with your tutors and we will give you an overview of the ESE week and everything else you need to know. Then you and your group will go out to eat together in the Alte Mensa.

Table tennis tournament

A slightly different form of TTT: A small table tennis tournament where you can compete with your new fellow students and even win a few small prizes.

We will do some hiking in our beautiful national Park which luckily is easily reachable from Dresden. Register for one of the tours at check-in.

There will be a little refreshment before the club tour so that you don't go hungry. Since we want to start with the first station at 7 pm, we would be happy if you are at the APB by 6:15 pm at the latest. A little surprise awaits you there ;)

We invite you to spend the evening with us and plunge into the student nightlife. We will gradually work our way from one student club to the next. Incidentally, students from all the other faculties will also be out and about at the same time. Networking is the keyword. Course A is specifically intended for international students who want to speak English and course H for all that don't want to drink alcohol.

Presentiation about the organization of your studies and exams

How to ... survive studying? Fr. Borcea-Pfitzmann from the Student Advisory Service and Fr. Schütze from the Examination Office of the Faculty of Computer Science will give you a quick overview of studying Computer Science at TU Dresden.

Course enrollment and FSR Presentation

One of, if not the, most important appointment of the week. On the one hand, we introduce you to the student council and then we explain to you how to enrol in the seminar groups and thus in a study plan. That way, nothing will go wrong in the first semester. At the same time, we will answer all your questions in the stream if you can't be there in person.

You should have already registered once via the coupon portal and changed your initial password so that you have access to your ZIH login. Your ZIH login consists of a username (first 2 letters of the first name, 2 letters of the last name, 3 numbers and one letter) and password, which you will need on site for enrollment.

Tour durch den Hochleistungsrechner

This year there will be a guided tour of the local computer center, the Lehmann-Zentrum Rechenzentrum (LZR). Among other things, it houses the TU's high-performance computer and a DLR cluster, surrounded by a lot of infrastructure for cooling, power supply and data transfer. The tour is led by Prof. Nagel himself. He is the director of the ZIH and will meet some of you again in Rechnerarchitektur. The number of participants is strictly limited to 20.

After this event, you will know some of the faces that you will often see at the front in lectures. The lecturers will tell you a bit about themselves, their subject areas and their lectures of the first semester. Including anecdotes, there won't be a dry eye in the house!

Get to know your mentor and the other people in your seminar group, you can also get to ask any of your urgent questions. You should definitely come! This is the second most important appointment after enrollment. This group will accompany you throughout the semester.
